"REPORT ON THE CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME BY SHRI RAVINDRA GODBOLE JI"
A Capacity Building Programme was organised for all 17 teachers at Vivekananda Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Kadamtala on 18.08.26 (Tuesday) by Ravindra Godbole ji with the objective of strengthening their teaching skills and promoting innovative, activity-based and experiential learning in the classroom. The programme focused on equipping teachers with practical strategies that could make classroom learning more engaging, meaningful and enjoyable for students.
The programme commenced with Omkara, followed by the recitation of the Shanti Mantra, creating a peaceful and positive beginning to the session. Thereafter, Ravindra ji introduced the programme and explained its central theme, “Toys as Teaching Aids”. He elaborated on how simple toys and creatively designed teaching aids can be effectively integrated into classroom teaching to simplify concepts and encourage active participation among learners.
During the session, Ravi Sir presented relevant videos and examples to demonstrate the effective use of toys as teaching-learning materials. He patiently addressed the doubts and queries raised by the teachers and interacted with the participants to ensure that the concepts were clearly understood. He also checked their understanding at different stages of the session, making the programme highly interactive.
The programme also included a hands-on practical session, where all the teachers worked collaboratively and prepared their own teaching aids based on the ideas and techniques demonstrated by Ravi Sir. The teachers used their creativity and innovative thinking to transform simple materials into useful teaching aids. After completing the preparations, the teachers presented their teaching aids in pairs, explaining their ideas and demonstrating how the materials could be used effectively during classroom activities.
The presentation session provided teachers with an opportunity to learn from one another and exchange creative ideas. Ravindra ji appreciated their efforts and encouraged them to continue developing more innovative and purposeful teaching aids in the future according to the learning needs of their students. He emphasised that teaching aids need not be expensive or complicated; rather, simple, locally available materials can be creatively used to make lessons more interesting and effective. He further assured the teachers that they could contact him whenever they faced any difficulty or had doubts while preparing teaching aids or planning related classroom activities.
Earlier in the morning, Ravindra ji conducted a special session for the Science teachers on making science learning more interactive and informative by integrating meaningful activities into the curriculum. He emphasised the importance of developing students’ observation skills and explained how teachers can encourage children to observe carefully during classroom activities.
To demonstrate observation through the five senses, he showed relevant videos and conducted a candle-burning and extinguishing activity. Through this demonstration, the teachers were guided on how children can be encouraged to observe, describe and record what they experience using their senses. He also explained how teachers can develop a habit of careful observation among students through simple and meaningful classroom experiences.
Ravi Sir further discussed how teachers can design activities and frame appropriate questions according to different grade levels. He introduced riddles as an interesting teaching strategy, suggesting that teachers can use riddles to help children identify materials and objects. He also encouraged teachers to motivate students to create their own riddles, thereby developing their creativity, reasoning and communication skills.
Another important concept discussed during the Science session was the difference between observation and inference. Through examples and activities, teachers understood that observation is based on what is directly noticed, whereas inference is a conclusion drawn from an observation. The participants also completed an activity worksheet, which helped reinforce their understanding of the concepts.
Overall, the Capacity Building Programme was highly interactive, practical and enriching. The combination of discussions, demonstrations, videos, collaborative activities, practical preparation and presentations provided teachers with valuable opportunities to learn, create and share. The programme successfully encouraged teachers to move beyond conventional teaching methods and incorporate creativity, toys, activities and innovative teaching aids into their classrooms. The session concluded on a positive note, with all 17 teachers carrying forward new ideas and renewed enthusiasm to make classroom learning more joyful, experiential and effective for their students.
